Review of the materials, shape, and surface treatment, HKS have delivered a lighter, stronger, and more precise evolved cam slide pulley.

Using ultra lightweight duralumin (A2014) dramatically improved durability (strength: 50%, hardness: 30%) compared to conventional products.
By using duralumin, changes to the design and shape of the pulleys has allowed for further weight reduction (approx 10% in the case of RB pulleys), reducing the burden on the valve train, improving engine response.

Wear resistance has been improved by nickel plating the gear portion of the pulleys.
Nickel plating of the gear portion of the pulleys improves the surface hardness (Hv hardness: 350->500), greatly improving wear resistance under severe conditions conditions such as using heavy duty timing belts, or when sand/grit gets between the teeth.
